Let's talk about the Frontier Life.
Please open your Social Studies textbook to page 120.
Do you remember reading about Mary Lewis, who moved from New York to Michigan with her parents in a covered wagon?
Please reread the page, and take a minute to try to imagine what it might have been like to travel in a wagon ... Can you feel the rough ride? Imagine the wood sides of the wagon and leaning up against them.
What do you hear as you travel? Are your parents having a conversation as they ride? Is it silent except for the horses' hooves and the creak of the wagon wheels?
Please continue reading on page 121, and then I'll ask you a few questions. These questions are not an assignment you must turn in; more like asking you to participate in a typical classroom discussion ... except I get to call on you each and every time! :)
