WELCOME TO RELIGION!
Today we will look more closely at the season of Advent, the four weeks before Christmas when we prepare for the 'Coming of the Son of God' at Christmas.
Please open your Religion book to p. 156, where you will see a picture of a family gathered near an Advent wreath. You can see there are four candles in the wreath. Each of those candles represents one of the weeks of Advent.
Please read pages 156 and 157 in your textbook, and then answer the following questions. (You do not need to write down your answers; think of the answers just like you would if we were having a class discussion, and I called on you.)
►What does the word 'Advent' mean?
►What are we preparing to celebration during Advent?
►Why did God send his Son to us?
►Who told the people how to prepare for Jesus' coming?
►How do we prepare the way of the Son of God?
All of the answers to the above questions are located on pages 156 & 157 of your text.
