The students are having a great time this month with our added focus on Reading!
We have a daily period set aside for quiet reading, as well as surprise D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) sessions throughout the week. Whether in the midst of a Math lesson or perhaps a Science Lab, all work comes to an abrupt halt when the D.E.A.R. session is announced, and the children take a break to escape into their library books for a bit. Such fun!
'March is Reading Month' began with a week devoted to Dr. Seuss. As you will see in the photos below, the students enjoyed 'Hat Day' in the classroom along with 'Dr. Seuss' erasers provided by a classmate. The students even discovered they had a talent for drawing The Cat in the Hat!
Additionally, our classroom door poster features the students as astronauts, expressing their appreciation for the pleasures reading brings.
The month will continue with challenges, incentives, and lots of reading fun!
