Today we'll start by working with 'similes.'
A simile will help you describe something more clearly by comparing it to something else.
Here are some examples:
The sand was so hot, it felt like walking on coals.
My scarf is as orange as a pumpkin.
Can you think of one? When you do, please write it down on your paper. (In the Journeys Workbook, simply write it at the bottom of page 107... coming up next! :)
► Please open your Journeys Workbook to page 107.
► You are given a sample at the top of the page. Notice how they used the word 'as' to compare a person's red face to a tomato. Using the words 'as' and 'like' help us directly compare things, so they are the words we typically use in a 'simile.'
► Please follow the directions to complete Sections A. and B.
► Because we are not in the classroom, you are not required to do the 'Pair/Share' at the bottom of the page, but please do write the simile you created! Thank you!
I LOOK FORWARD TO READING YOUR SIMILE! PLEASE SUBMIT :)
